Engineers – Job Share

Tall Ship 'One & All'  

With the retirement of the 'One & All' chief engineer, we are seeking applications from enthusiastic and appropriately qualified people to fill the position of Engineer(s) aboard South Australia’s iconic tall ship the 'One & All’.

The position is a “job share” arrangement providing the opportunity for rostered time off i.e. we are seeking to establish a pool of qualified engineers. The position reports to the ship’s captain. The remuneration is based on days worked, at sea or on shore, at an agreed daily rate.

 The Engineers are important members of the ship’s management group working closely with the Captain to ensure the maintenance and safety of the ship meets Australian Maritime Safety Authority standards.

The 'One & All' is primarily a Youth Development Training Vessel taking young people (aged 15-23) to sea on extended voyages to participate in the internationally recognised 'One & All' Youth Development Program. The engineer position includes overall responsibility for monitoring the ship’s asset management plan and maintaining excellent computer based records; arranging the engineers’ roster, and overseeing the annual maintenance in July.

The successful applicants will be self-motivated and professional; have empathy with the ship’s purpose in serving young people, and be required to participate in extended voyages.

Minimum requirements:

·         Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 and/or 2 (MED 1; MED 2)

·      Demonstrated skill in mechanical engineering and general maintenance on board ships

·         If non-Australian citizen, own work visa to work in Australia

·         Prepared to undertake a police check
